Michael Villar, a dedicated Republican and Pro-Life advocate with over three decades of experience in criminal law, officially announces his candidacy for Allegan County Prosecuting Attorney. Mr. Villar’s decision to seek the GOP nomination is rooted in the urgent need for a prosecutor who wholeheartedly supports law enforcement, prioritizes transparency in the Allegan County Prosecutor’s Office, and is committed to efficiently managing an office currently over budget and producing lackluster results.

Expressing his commitment to the cause, Villar states, “Our community deserves a prosecutor who is dedicated to upholding the values of law and order, increasing transparency, and managing resources effectively. Allegan County deserves better, and I am ready to bring positive change.”

Villar’s extensive legal career includes private practice spanning Allegan, Holland, Grand Haven, Kalamazoo, and Grand Rapids. A University of Michigan Law School graduate, he has held clerkships for esteemed judges and actively participated in high-profile cases throughout Southwest Michigan. Beyond his legal career, Villar has demonstrated substantial community involvement, coaching sports, serving on local boards, and contributing to various charitable initiatives.

Highlighting the need for fiscal responsibility, Villar notes, “It’s concerning that the budget for the Allegan County Prosecutor’s Office has grown substantially while convictions remain lower than average statewide. As a Pro-Life Republican, I believe in fiscal responsibility, integrity, and public service.”
